Boisar
Boisar is an industrial town and the fastest-growing nuclear city, located in the newly formed Palghar district. Boisar was a part of Thane District until July 2014. Boisar comes under the Mumbai Metropolitan Region in the Indian state of Maharashtra. Boisar is run by the state government's municipal council, known as the Palghar Municipal Council (PMC).
Boisar is rapidly developing, as is the population. More than 37,000 people live in the city, of which 23,000 are male and 14,000 are female. 84 % of boisar population is Hindu and the rest are from other religions. Marathi is the official language and is mostly spoken in Boisar. But apart from Marathi, English and Hindi are also compulsory languages in schools.
Boisar is well connected with the rest of Maharashtra by road and railway. Boisar is 111 km away from the financial capital Mumbai and 60 km away from Gujarat. The Boisar railway station and Maharashtra State Transport bus take care of the transportation needs of the Boisar people to reach near and faraway places from Boisar. 3 seater and 10 seater auto rickshaws also run from Boisar to Tarapur, Chinchani, Navapur, Murbe, Palghar, etc.
Boisar is home to the largest Maharashtra Development Corporation ( MIDC ). It is one of the largest industrial areas in whole Maharashtra. More than 1500 industrial units are located here. Chemicals, steels, pharma, packaging, textiles, and all other type of companies are in boisar. Tata Steel, Jindal Steel, Viraj Steel, Aarti Drugs, Lupin, Cipla, Amul, Vadilal, Lavino Kapur, Pantaloons, etc. are some of the prominent companies in Boisar.
India's first nuclear power plant, Tarapur Atomic Power Station, is running here, generating 1000 mg/W of electricity. Tarapur Atomic Power Plant was commissioned on October 28, 1969, almost 53 years ago, and is still running. The BARC (Baba Atomic Research Center) is also located in Boisar Tarapur. Both Tarapur Atomic Power Station and BARC have large residential colonies for their employees.
Boisar is a popular tourist destination on weekends. A large number of tourists visit beaches, forts, and lakes. Tarapur fort, Shirgaon fort, Mahim fort, Asava fort, and Asheri fort are located near Boisar city. Boisar West is fully developed residential area with the Ostwal Empire, Yashwant Shrusti, Harmony residency, Mahavir Complex, and many other prominent housing project here. Flat in Boisar are costly due to rapid development taking place in Boisar and all Govt office, UIDAI Aadhar Center, Pan Card office are located near by.
